THE GREAT MOUNTAIN
The second documentation of the great mountain is found in the prophecy of the book of Zechariah in Chapter 4, verse 7. Notice the question, Who [art] thou, O great mountain?
2. Who [art] thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel [thou shalt become] a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone [thereof with] shoutings, [crying], Grace, grace unto it. (Zechariah 4:7)
What is the connection between this great mountain and the man called Zerubbabel? Zerubbabel is another interesting personality. This name appears in twenty-one (21) verses for a total of twenty-two (22) times. Again, I have to bring in the veiled message in God’s numbering system: we have a double witness in the number 22, and we have in the number 21, the perfection of the Godhead bodily, (7 x 7 x 7 = 21, or 3 x 7 = 21). The meaning of the name of Zerubbabel is ‘sown in Babylon‘ and/or ‘melted by Babylon.‘ This man was a direct descendant of king David. (Matthew 1:12) He was of the royal line of Kingship. And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel. God was faithful to His word that the sceptre of royalty would not cease to exist, and Zerubbabel (Zorobabel) had been the living proof of God’s faithfulness that even in the furnace of slavery to Babylon, God preserved Judah’s progeny in Zerubbabel.
The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. (Genesis 49:10) Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver; (Psalm 108:8)
When Cyrus and later Darius released the Jews from the Babylon, Zerubbabel was one of the leaders to supervise the return and the rebuilding of Jerusalem for Zerubbabel was recognized as having the rights to the throne of David, and therefore, Zerubbabel was the rightful king, but since the Israelites were not in the position to claim royalty, Zerubbabel was called the governor of Judah four times in the book of Haggai.
In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying, (Haggai 1:1)
And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God, (Haggai 1:14)
Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying, (Haggai 2:2)
Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth; (Haggai 2:21) And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother. (Haggai 2:22) In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts. (Haggai 2:23)
In verse 22 we have the throne of kingdoms, and the strength of the kingdoms: kingdoms . . . many kingdoms, many Empires, many mountains of power for the LAST mountain of power is the kingdom of the Beast, and his kingdom is strengthened by the tyrannical militaries of the kingdoms of the heathen. Remember that the mountain of Babylon is a three-prong power syndicate where religion is employed by the false prophet to affect emotions and passions of its followers. Government is the authority and the enforcer, and corporate is the banker and merchandiser.
Who [art] thou, O great mountain? This great mountain was recognized through Zerubbabel as the rightful king to the throne of David. And to write it correctly, this Great Mountain was the rightful King to the throne of Israel, and He would make the rough places and the crooked places straight as a plain, and He would appear as the Head Stone of all of God’s purposes crying, Grace, grace unto it.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
2. Who [art] thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel [thou shalt become] a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone [thereof with] shoutings, [crying], Grace, grace unto it. (Zechariah 4:7)
